CRPS Call Out Week of 09.08.25

Posted Date: 09/07/25 (06:00 PM)

Good evening, Bear Cub Families,

This is Mrs. Touchton, Principal of Crystal River Primary School, with your Sunday evening call out for the week of September 8-12th.

Our student information system, Skyward, is a wonderful resource for families! In addition to registration, it gives you quick access to your child’s grades, clinic visits, discipline records, and attendance. Midterm progress reports were emailed on Saturday, September 13th, but you don’t have to wait for report cards to stay updated—Skyward provides real-time information. By clicking the plus sign in the top left corner and selecting “gradebook,” you can easily see if assignments are turned in and how your child is progressing in each subject. Also, don’t forget ParentSquare- teachers are posting newsletters and daily updates on the regular!

Looking ahead, our district-wide Parent-Teacher Conference Day is Tuesday, October 1st. This will be a half day of school with dismissal at 12:35 PM. Many teachers have already begun meeting with families, so if you haven’t scheduled a time yet, please reach out to your child’s teacher soon. Conferences are a great opportunity to partner together in supporting your child’s learning.

We are also excited that many of our Bear Cub Extracurriculars are beginning! The Chess Club kicks off this Tuesday for students who received an invitation to participate. Please remember that pick-up is at 5:00 PM in the front of the school. In addition, permission slips for Chorus are due now-the first rehearsal will be held on Thursday, September 11th at 8:00 AM.

September is National School Attendance Awareness Month! At CRPS, we know that showing up everyday matters-students who attend school regularly build stronger learning habits, deeper relationships, and greater success.

Consistent school attendance in elementary school is one of the strongest predictors of long-term academic success, and it’s important that students are present for the entire school day. At CRPS, our day begins at 9:20 AM, and arriving after that time counts as a tardy. When students miss multiple days, or even arrive late or are picked up early, they lose valuable opportunities to build strong foundations in reading, writing, and math. These gaps add up quickly, making it harder to keep pace with grade-level expectations as learning becomes more complex. If your child eats breakfast at school and is a parent drop-off, please ensure they arrive by 9:00 AM so they have ample time to eat and get to class ready to begin their day. Regular, on-time attendance not only supports academic growth but also helps children develop important routines, responsibility, and social connections that are essential to their success. Please help us by making daily attendance a top priority.

 On the calendar this week:

  • Tuesday, September 9th is Fall Picture Day and the Chess Club will meet until 5 pm
  • Thursday, September 11th is wear Red, White, & Blue for Patriot’s Day
  • Chorus will meet at 8 am on Thursday.
  • Midterms will be transmitted electronically via Skyward on Saturday, September 13th

In the weeks to come:

Thank you for staying connected and engaged-we appreciate your partnership in helping every Bear Cub succeed!
